Finding My Creative Sanctuary: A Mum's Journey with IGGY&SHA
Share
Being a mum is a journey filled with countless joys and challenges. Each day, I juggle the demands of motherhood with the desire to nurture my own passions. Some days, it feels like there's barely a moment to breathe between the nappy changes, meal preps, and endless playtimes. Yet, amidst the beautiful chaos, I've found a little sanctuary in IGGY&SHA.
Reflecting on my journey with crochet, it's funny how I can't quite remember the exact moment it all began. What I do know is that this creative adventure has been a part of my life for over a decade now. My learning curve was shaped by countless hours spent watching YouTube tutorials and scrolling through Pinterest, absorbing every stitch and pattern.
Crocheting quickly became my sanctuary, a therapeutic escape where my creativity could run wild. Over the years, I've dabbled in crafting all sorts of treasures, from cozy clothing to charming plant pots. But perhaps my most cherished creations are the delightful accessories designed for my precious children—and for yours, too.
Each piece I make is a labor of love, infused with the joy of crafting something beautiful and practical. It's a journey I'm thrilled to share with you, one stitch at a time.
For me, IGGY&SHA is more than just a business; it's my creative outlet, a space where I can express myself and find a sense of peace. As a creative person, I craved something that would allow me to channel my creativity while still being connected to my children. Designing and crafting each piece is like a form of meditation for me—a quiet time where I can focus solely on bringing my visions to life.
I find it amusing that the days I work on the business are the ones where I feel more clear-minded and can tackle house duties with ease. Like tonight, for example, I had dinner cooked, the girls bathed, and the kitchen cleaned all before 7:30. Usually, I end the day with a messy kitchen because I'm just so exhausted and overstimulated. It often leads to a stressful morning trying to prepare breakfast amidst the chaos.
I've also noticed that the days I head out first thing in the morning are the easiest. Whether it's seeing friends or a trip to the park, these outings tire the girls out, giving me a precious window to sit and work on my business.
Though the accessories I create are meant for children, this venture is deeply personal. It's a reminder that even as mums, we deserve to have something that's just for us. Something that allows us to step away, even if just for a moment, and indulge in our passions.
But beyond the creations, my dream is to build a community—a safe haven for mums like me. A place where we can share our stories, support each other, and feel heard and seen. I envision IGGY&SHA not just as a brand, but as a community where every mum feels valued and understood.
If you're a mum navigating the ups and downs of motherhood, I want you to know you're not alone. Let's connect, share our experiences, and build a community where creativity and motherhood coexist beautifully. Together, we can create a space that celebrates the strength and creativity of mums everywhere.
